Practical guide

How to change your registered office address

Prepare the new service, update Companies House and check related address records.

Arrange permission to use the new address

Before filing a change, make sure you have permission to use the address and that it is suitable for your company’s jurisdiction. If you are using our service, we confirm the full address during setup.

Tell Companies House

Companies House provides an online change service and form AD01 for company registered office changes. Its guidance says you must notify it within 14 days of a change. You will need the company authentication code for the online process.

The change does not take effect until Companies House registers it. Subscribing to an address service is not itself a Companies House filing.

Check what else needs updating

Review the director service addresses, company website, stationery and the organisations holding your company contact details. Changing the company’s registered office is separate from changing a director’s service address.

Also check where HMRC and other senders are directing correspondence. Make sure the relevant contact and email arrangements are correct so important letters reach the people who need to act on them.

What our annual fee includes

Our service supplies the registered office for one company and one director service address, with Companies House and HMRC post scanned and emailed. The price is £85 plus VAT a year.

You can choose a Rochdale, Lancashire registered office or a Stockport, Cheshire registered office. An accountant can also arrange the service through our reseller offering.

Check old records separately

If you are moving away from your home address, read the historical address removal guide. Changing the current address does not automatically remove the home address from earlier documents.

Official guidance: AD01 and the online change service; when changes take effect.
